HFNJ was proud to be honored by the Trinitas Health Foundation with its 2018 Humanitarian Award on May 10th. The award was presented in recognition of HFNJ’s long history of support both for Trinitas and generally on behalf of the lowest income, most vulnerable people who reside in greater Newark.  “The entire Trinitas family is deeply grateful to HFNJ for their steadfast generosity to our Medical Center, wrote Nadine Brechner, VP of Development.  “Since 2000, they have awarded Trinitas an astounding 21 grants that total $3,374,132.  Their latest grant will modernize Trinitas’ breast cancer detection capabilities by equipping our upcoming Connie Dwyer Breast Center with 3D mammography technology….Their astounding $1.75 million in grants played a pivotal role in the creation of the beautiful new Gary S. Horan Emergency Department…while their compassion for the elderly and people with mental illness led directly to The Healthcare Foundation of NJ Geriatric…and Transition Care Unit(s) in the ED.” In thanking Trinitas, both Beth Levithan, HFNJ Chair, and Marsha Atkind, Executive Director/CEO, praised Trinitas as a model grantee:  always working to maximize the impact of the funding they receive, transparent about changes that may be needed, and steadfast in their work to deliver excellence and sustainability in all that they undertake.  “We provide the funding,” Marsha and Beth noted, “but you do the hard part.  You make the programs work.”
