Building Resilient Nonprofits

Hospitals are considered anchor institutions; they represent a nexus for a variety of healthcare practices and public health efforts and are often the largest employer in their neighborhood. This quarter, we are pleased to announce two major gifts that will strengthen our local hospitals – a $1,250,000 investment in Trinitas Regional Medical Center for a renovated Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and a $1,000,000 multi-year grant to Overlook Medical Center to create a coordinated mental health service center for children and teens.

In times of change, we all rely on resilient, strong and well managed organizations that can pivot to meet new challenges.

Both grants serve to expand the ability of our hospitals to meet the health challenges of today… and to continue to serve the community into tomorrow.

As we look ahead to 2025, we also are pleased to be working to strengthen the internal capacity of our nonprofit grantees by offering a series of free training opportunities. Based on community feedback on common areas of need, we will be offering training sessions led by content area experts on topics including fund development and program evaluation. If you are receiving this e-newsletter, you can expect to receive invitations to these complimentary trainings in your inbox, and we look forward to seeing many of you at these in-person events at our offices in Millburn.

Whether your organization is large or small, and whether you count your budget in the hundreds of thousands or the hundreds of millions, we recognize that each of our nonprofit partners will be faced with their own unique challenges in 2025. The Healthcare Foundation of NJ is committed to using our limited resources wisely, creatively and effectively as best we can to help our community partners build the organizational strength necessary to navigate these times of change.

In good health,
