Welcoming Five New Members to the HFNJ Board

“The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey is honored to welcome these exceptional leaders to our Board of Trustees,” said Steven Kamen, Board Chair of HFNJ. “As one of the only foundations in New Jersey dedicated solely to advancing quality healthcare, we are thrilled that many of our new trustees bring decades of collective wisdom and expertise in diverse specialties of the healthcare industry.”

The newly-appointed trustees are:

• Paula Green, CCRN is a registered nurse with more than four decades of healthcare experience specializing in critical care and medical office management. A graduate of Clara Maass School of Nursing and Kean University, she also holds certification as a Legal Nurse Consultant. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Green is deeply committed to volunteerism and advocacy through organizations including Tovah (formerly known as the National Council of Jewish Women/Essex (NCJW), Girls Helping Girls Period, Christine’s Kitchen, and Greenwood Gardens. Her longstanding community leadership reflects a deep dedication to compassion, service, and advancing health equity.

• Eric D. Kanter, M.D. is the former managing partner of Retina Vitreous Consultants in Livingston and Morristown, New Jersey, a tertiary care practice specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. A graduate of Columbia University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Kanter has served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Short Hills Surgery Center and as an attending surgeon at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. In addition to his clinical leadership, he has advised emerging venture backed healthcare and biotechnology companies, including Cerus Endovascular and Mid Atlantic Bio Angels, and has led numerous community vision screening initiatives for underserved populations and nursing home residents throughout New Jersey.

• Joshua D. Schor, M.D., FACP, CMD is a nationally recognized geriatrician, educator, and healthcare leader with more than 35 years of experience in geriatric medicine and long-term care. A graduate of Yale University and Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Schor recently retired as Senior Medical Director for Optum and previously led geriatric medicine programs at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Daughters of Israel. He is a past president of the New Jersey Medical Directors Association and recipient of numerous honors, including The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey’s Humanism in Health Care Award. An accomplished author and educator, Dr. Schor has dedicated his career to improving care for older adults and advancing compassionate healthcare delivery.

• Alan Sobel is a tax principal with CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen LLP) and a nationally respected accounting and advisory professional with more than 40 years of experience across industries including real estate, manufacturing, logistics, retail, and professional services. Formerly managing member of SobelCo before its merger with CLA, he is widely recognized for his leadership within the accounting profession, including serving as President of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and on the AICPA Council. A dedicated community volunteer, Sobel has also held leadership roles with Spectrum 360 and Temple Beth Am and has received numerous honors for professional excellence and civic engagement.

• Michele Landau will serve as an ex officio member of HFNJ’s Board in her capacity as current President of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. Landau has held key leadership roles within Federation, including UJA campaign chair and women’s philanthropy president. She currently serves on Federation’s Executive Committee, the Jewish Community Foundation Board of Trustees, and National Women’s Philanthropy. Before joining Federation leadership, Landau served as co-chair of development at Golda Och Academy.
