July 20, 2023

On July 13th, HFNJ’s Board Chair Amy Schechner and Executive Director/CEO Michael Schmidt were honored to join the team at Trinitas Regional Medical Center for a ribbon cutting of its new Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders.

Funded in part by a $1 million challenge grant from The Healthcare Foundation of NJ, the Center is New Jersey’s only hospital facility dedicated to caring for people with autism and other disorders who may need acute psychiatric hospitalization, crisis stabilization and psychiatric assessment.

In their opening remarks, Schechner and Schmidt commented on the longstanding partnership between HFNJ and Trinitas – spanning 38 grants over 20 years totaling more than $6.7 million. Through this partnership, HFNJ has helped Trinitas launch vital and innovative efforts like the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities – offering world-class care for the community of Elizabeth, and beyond.
